Challenges

FAQs (Frequently Asked Questions)

Click on the "Submit Project" button at the top of the site to access the Devpost. Your submission must include a video (no longer than 2 minutes) that showcases your project, a basic description of your project, and the challenge(s) for which you want your project to be considered. There will be a Devpost page where you and your team will submit your project and view the judging criterias. At the end of the hackathon, we will be announcing the winners on this page, and all the project submissions will be available for your viewing.

All workshops, activities, and events will be taking place online through Zoom this year. We will share meeting links via Discord. We’ll also be sharing workshop recordings via a Google Drive folder through Discord after each event. So if you can’t make it to one of the hackathon's workshops, we’ve got you covered! We highly recommend joining real-time for opportunities to network and Q&A.

Mentoring will all be done through our Discord. If you or your team want to connect with a mentor, fill out the form on the Discord channel and then hop onto our Mentorship Zoom hangout to talk with your assigned mentor.

After registering on Eventbrite, you will be emailed a link to join the Discord 1- 2 days before the hackathon. Make sure to check your spam folder for all event emails.

Make sure to check the event schedule to stay up to date on important hackathon deadlines and everything you need to know about what's going on throughout the weekend! Announcements and reminders will also be broadcasted on the Discord server in case you forget.

Workshop recordings will be available via a Google Drive folder and shared with participants following the completion of the event. You can also find the link at the top of the site. So don't worry if you happen to miss one of this weekend's workshops because we got you covered!

All teams must be between 2-4 people. While you have the option to attend alone, if you want to submit your project you must work with at least one other person. Don’t worry if you don’t have a team—you’ll have plenty of opportunities to find one virtually! TechTogether will be hosting a variety of team formation activities throughout the first day, and we will also have a Discord channel dedicated to team formation leading up to and during the event.

We’ll be giving out prizes throughout the hackathon, especially for winners of the various tracks. Outside of it, we’ll also be hosting raffles throughout the workshops. Attendee swag this year will be swapped for local charity donations instead.

At the core, TechTogether Seattle is a hackathon, where individuals or teams work together to build a technology-based solution to a problem in a short period of time (24-36 hours), with the support of mentors and our network. Attendees can also join for our other events offered, such as the career fair, workshops, and panels.

Hackers

We are committed to providing people of marginalized genders with opportunities to explore the tech industry in an inspiring, encouraging, and energizing environment. At TechTogether Seattle, we give each hackers regardless of age or experience level the unique opportunity to gain and develop their skill-sets, build a professional network, and be part of this empowering community.

Non-Hackers (Mentors, Judges, etc.)

Other ways to get involved include joining as a mentor, judge, workshop host, or panelist (see Get Involved for roles and links) or support us as a sponsor! This is a great opportunity to expand your network, grow, and to share with our budding community!

No worries! We’ve prepared an event dedicated to first-time hackers and an online resource kit to get you fully prepared and ready to hack during the weekend. Our mentors are also available to help guide you through your projects during the hackathon. Additionally, feel free to reach out if you have access needs or questions.

TechTogether Seattle Hackathon is free to attend!

That's completely ok! Hackers have many roles besides coding including project management and design! Your team will need people to help ideate, design, prototype, and pitch your project in order to bring it to life, so your unique skills will definitely be an asset!

TechTogether Seattle was built with inclusion in mind, and although we have aimed to create that environment in advance, we understand that a wide range access needs exist and lack of support may prevent you from fully engaging in the event. Please allow us to help you the best we can by contacting us in advance through this link.
